Just your regular runner. Nothing spectacular. I run races but in no way do I come near winning races, placing in my age group, or setting records. I know it’s totally cliche but running keeps me sane and I love it. I started running around 2005ish, in order to get in shape for my Air Force career. In the past, running had been a punishment in my other sports, but it’s a notion I quickly got over. I really like the individual aspect of running, and hope to continue doing it for as long as I can. I also love the fact that I can run wherever life takes me. Ohio, Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, and now in Washington state. My first love was trail running, and I hope to enter the ultra running world in 2013.
Of course, I wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of my family. There’s my husband, who actually married me on PURPOSE, much to my surprise. He is also a long distance runner, having completed numerous races. His career in the military will take us on a crazy journey, but we can’t think of a better way to live life. He is my rock, and he is always pushing me to do my best. Our daughter [K] will be three in September. While young, she definitely has her own personality, and unfortunately it seems as though she has inherited my lack of patience as well as being stubborn, which shows on stroller runs when she yells at me to ‘go faster!!!” In May of 2012, we welcomed our son [Spud] into our family. From an early age he proves that he is a momma’s boy, and we’re hoping that he’ll take to the running stroller in a few months.
In addition to running, I [try to] do yoga. My balance really sucks, and I find myself struggling to quiet my thoughts during a practice. Slowly but surely, I’m coming around, and the more I do it, the more I’m loving it. Not to mention the impact it has on my running, as well as peace of mind.
On the diet perspective of things, the older I get the more high maintenance I am. I’m intolerant to gluten, and I also don’t really go out of my way to eat meat. I eat organic as much as possible, and love trying new recipes. I enjoy cooking, as I find it very therapeutic. One of my favorite things is finding a small, local cafe or shop and eating to my little heart’s content. As for baking, I find it to be tedious and semi-boring. In contrast, I have a small obsession with cupcakes, and have a crazy sweet tooth…
Anyway, I hope you enjoy my little corner of the blogosphere, and feel free to take the time to email me. I WILL reply back!! Thanks
