First, a H-U-G-E good luck to my brothers-in-law, B & K. They tackle their first marathon tomorrow in San Antonio, and they’ve been busting their butts training the past few months. They’re speedy guys too, so I can’t wait to see how they do. B’s wife, S, is running the half, as is K’s girlfriend, T. These ladies are also quite speedy; I have never wanted so badly to be in San Antonio to watch everyone race!!
Second, If you are planning to run/walk/hike/cycle/swim/do anything at all either today or tomorrow, please visit this link. Also, if you would like to count Friday’s activity, that works too! Please check back Monday for a very special Thank You to each and every one of you.
For the life of me I cannot get warm. The morning started with an awesome run, with of course, Run to Remember. [ps - please follow us on Twitter!] As you may or may not know, we circle up to remember the fallen Soldiers. They also started honoring those who were killed this weekend, in previous years, and naturally, Jon’s name was in the mix. I couldn’t help but choke up a bit when I heard his name – I was pretty sure it was going to happen, but hearing it just makes it more real… Anyway, I tracked down the individual who read his name and asked for the paper that had Jon’s name on it; and he was more than happy to give it to me. So, I placed it in my pocket, and went off for my run. Though only 3 miles, it was pretty taxing, but I managed to pull negative splits out of nowhere. I also didn’t have the running stroller with me, which helps a LOT. Plus, although it sounds cheesy, I liked running with Jon’s name in my pocket. No, I am not dipping tobacco in this photo, nor am I on drugs, I’m just very tired and cold!
From there we came home and got ready to head out to lunch, as well as Home Depot. Nothing crazy, we’re pretty boring folk.
The rest of the afternoon will be spent bumming cleaning around the house, doing some laundry, and catching up on blogs. We might even stay up until 9. Wild party people, that’s us.
I also got a gift box from Schar Gluten Free, and I am thrilled to try this product out! I can’t wait – I haven’t had ciabatta bread in who knows HOW long, so I’m looking forward to this, big time.
Not that I want this next thought to become lost in this post of nothingess, but honestly, I am feeling ok about tomorrow… Granted, I’m saying this *now*, after a morning/afternoon of business, and who knows what the next day brings. I’m having my moments, but I’m feeling way better than I thought I would be. I know this is largely in part to the support system I have, and though I would do anything in my power to have Jon here with us, I think I’m finally starting to understand the phrase, “it gets better with time”. Tomorrow will tell.
